POTUS (Or Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive,) is an R-rated farce in which seven women attempt to manage the president’s latest PR disaster. The production’s fast-paced, chaotic energy and satirical tone informed my scenic design approach, with a focus on supporting constant movement across multiple spaces within the White House.
As Scenic Designer, I developed a dynamic, multi-functional environment that facilitated rapid transitions between halls, offices, and private rooms. I conducted visual research on the architecture and interiors of the White House and Washington, D.C., synthesizing elements from iconic spaces into a cohesive and stylized design. Through drafting, spatial planning, and collaboration with the director and production team, I created a setting that balanced realism with theatrical efficiency, supporting both the comedic timing and fluid staging of the production.
