The Grove Books is a traveling bookstore and retail experience inspired by the history, visual culture, and storytelling traditions of old Florida. Operating from a custom-built book trailer, the project combines books, stationery, and Florida-inspired goods within a mobile environment designed to evoke the charm of roadside orange stands, vintage tourism, and small-town bookstores.
As CEO and Creative Director, I have led the development of The Grove Books from its earliest concept stages through its ongoing construction and launch. I designed the company logo, branding system, and visual identity, drawing inspiration from historic Florida postcards, citrus crate labels, and mid-century tourism advertising. Through archival research into Florida's visual history, I curated reference imagery and graphic materials that informed the company's branding, marketing materials, website, and future environmental design. The resulting identity establishes a cohesive visual language rooted in a sense of place, nostalgia, and Florida storytelling.
I designed and developed the company website, translating the brand identity into a digital experience. The process included content development, graphic design, and user experience planning, creating a cohesive platform that communicates the company's mission while reinforcing its visual and thematic identity.
To transform the brand into a physical environment, I created detailed SketchUp models and design studies for the renovation of a cargo trailer into a mobile bookstore. Through spatial planning and iterative design development, I explored shelving systems, customer circulation, display strategies, and experiential elements that support both retail functionality and storytelling.
As the project continues, I am overseeing and directing the construction of the trailer, managing the transition from concept design to a fully realized mobile bookstore. The development process is being documented through ongoing updates and behind-the-scenes content on the company's Instagram page as The Grove Books evolves from concept to completion.
